- The BHG
is a not-for-profit organisation which was established to research and preserve the history of Brisbane and its environs.
- BHG is
a lively, active group that presents the city’s history in an authoritative,
reliable and relevant form suited to the new century.
- BHG has
played a significant role in persuading governments to establish heritage
legislation and makes representations when heritage values are threatened.
- BHG publishes
a range of books, papers and discussions which are sought by libraries, schools and
tertiary institutions.
- BHG encourages
links between the academic world and the wider community.
- BHG fosters
sound research methodology and provides opportunities for novice historians
to develop their skills.
- BHG promotes
research into facets of Brisbane history and, through its seminar days, provides
a venue for making research findings more widely known.
- BHG encourages
co-operation with other historical/heritage bodies.
- BHG will
achieve more and speak with greater authority when it has the backing of a
large committed membership.

publishes a regular newsletter The Brisbane Courier,
which is posted to all members.
